Hot yoga pants!  Anyone can walk into Lululemon and don a pair of the hottest yoga pants in town and show up on the yoga mat for practice.  You can join the Uber-fit, go-getting professionals in what they have discovered to be life changing practice of yoga.

In other words…hot yoga pants is to work efficiency as PB is to J!

The practice of yoga can help you to be at your best any day of the week. The practice of yoga, especially wearing your favorite yoga pants will help you to become the best version of you possible. The practice of yoga can help you shine like a star as it strengthens the body, mind and spirit.  In strengthening the container – the physical body – the ability to manage a variety of experiences is enhanced. Mind, body and spirit are interconnected, when improving the condition of one, all benefit.

Yoga is more than a hot trend on every city street in North America. It is an ancient tradition of practices and philosophical ideas that have evolved from a need to sit more comfortably.

Yoga creates ease in daily activities, mental equanimity and a clean, clear-minded, balanced place for spirit. Some work environments and boardroom mind games lead to toxic build up and the practice of yoga is one proven method to remove the physical toxins, free the mind from unhealthy thought patterns and begin to understand self. This physical, mental and spiritual practice can decrease stress and increase effectiveness at work in many ways.

Yoga improves physical effectiveness at work, especially for those who use their body in a physical form of work from typing to road construction. The asanas, the physical postures of yoga, strengthen the body, tone muscles, stimulate circulatory, nervous and endocrine (glands/hormones) systems of the body as they improve bone density and increase the oxygenation of every single cell in the body.

According to a study at University Hospital, Oslo, Norway, physically stressed professionals and everyday workers who practice yoga regularly have a stronger immune system.  A more resilient constitution means calling in sick less frequently, performing duties without pain or interruption and increased stamina to get through the day.

Business leaders are learning how the physical practice of yoga gives them a competitive edge.  You do not have to get to a big metropolis or a far away yoga retreat to benefit from the practice of yoga.

If your work environment is mentally challenging, yoga can be a wonderful method of sharpening the mind.  Yoga improves mental concentration, increases cognition and alleviates the symptoms of stress and anxiety.  Many executives find that a regular practice of yoga asanas, attention to breath and exploring meditation are essential elements to climbing the corporate ladder.

Meditation can be done anywhere and will improve effectiveness at work by giving the practitioner space to integrate life and work.  During meditation practitioners often experience quantum leaps in consciousness that provide elusive business solutions.

Yoga is an excellent method to improve effectiveness at work. To get started, find a teacher that you are comfortable with, read a book or watch a video.  Find a starting place that makes sense to you. Then: practice; go to class; meditate and yes, if it helps you to feel the part, get those hot yoga pants!

Notice what happens.  As an experiment, try not telling anyone about your choice to practice.  Observe how it feels to have a secret. Let the energy build and awareness sharpen.  See how long it takes for others around you to start to appreciate that something is different about you.  You may note that a change like this is successful in producing a strong or favorable impression on people.  When you become more effective at work, people will notice.

Whole Food Green Smoothie

• 2 cups of clean water

• 3 cups of greens (any that you like, spinach, kale, spring mix, ideally organic)

• masticate the greens completely – at least a few mins in the blender

• then add one organic banana (sometimes 2 for kids taste buds)(put left over bananas in the freezer makes this nice and cold – tastes better)

• and one organic apple

• I used to tell the kids that is was a frog I put in the blender – we still call it green monster drink – monster guts – weirdly enough seemed to appeal to them more then fruits and vegetables hummm

• you can keep this in the fridge for up to 48 hours and

• it makes a complete whole food – protein from the greens
