Join us for our Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training program, the first level of a comprehensive certification program in Kundalini Yoga. Led by experienced instructors Elizabeth Perez and Denise Davis-Gains, this program explores how Kundalini Yoga elevate the human experience. Come challenge yourself, expand your knowledge, and cultivate a more peaceful life.

If you want to learn something… read about it. If you want to understand something… write about it. If you want to master something… teach it.

How do you want to feel? Inspired… Magnificent… Blissful…

Challenge yourself by confronting self-imposed boundaries in order to touch your soul and gain the knowledge and self-confidence to build a more peaceful and creative life.

The Atlas Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Program is the first level of a three tiered certification program in Kundalini Yoga. It consists of 220 hours (180 hours in class and 40 hours independent study) fulfilling the Canadian Yoga Alliance’s national standard for a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT). With your certification, you can apply for and receive a Canadian Yoga Alliance Certificate.

This foundation course introduces the student to the principles and practices of the self-sensory human, and explores how Kundalini Yoga and yogic lifestyle can harmonize and uplift the human experience and awaken our potential.

THERE ARE SIX PRINCIPLE COMPONENTS IN this PROGRAM:

  1. Kriya and Meditation: The foundation of Kundalini Yoga
The theory and practice of Kundalini Yoga kriyas (yoga sets), asanas, and mudras. Explore the nature of the mind and its training through Kundalini Yoga meditations, mantras, and pranayama (breathing techniques).

  2. History and Philosophy: Practical Application of a Traditional Style of Yoga
The history and tradition of Kundalini Yoga, as well as the underlying philosophy behind all yogic practices. The practices of Kundalini Yoga as they apply to health and daily living, including diet, nutrition, and relationships.

  3. Anatomy & Physiology: Essentials of Yogic and Functional Anatomy
Traditional Western anatomy, its purpose and function, including the respiratory, nervous, immune, musculoskeletal, circulatory, endocrine, and digestive systems and their relation to the practice and teaching of yoga. Also Yogic anatomy and the energy systems of the body including the chakras, nadis, pranas and vayus, and the ten yogic bodies. We introduce the idea of somatic, soma, to this beautiful style of yoga.

  4. Consciousness of a Teacher: Ethics, Responsibilities and Accountability
The skills and techniques to become an effective instructor, including practical strategies for teaching beginners, special populations, ethical guidelines, curriculum development, and the transformational role of the teacher in developing a successful yoga practice. Special attention and education will be shared regarding the tendency for spiritual teachers to abuse power and authority. We will be honouring the victims through acknowledgement and by becoming aware of the potential abuse in all socio-religio-cultural traditions that take away agency or the first divine right which is free will away from the aspirant.

  5. Esoteric Practices & Metaphysics: Putting it all together

Mantra, mudra, mandala. The Guru lineage and the dangers of following blindly. The difference between Western academic studies and Eastern guru lineages. Types of pain and how to build a healthy relationship to the body and to teach the subtle difference between tension that is leading to strength and tension that is leading to injury.

  6. The Practicum: Teaching from Day One
Practical experience instructing a yoga class under the supervision of a Kundalini Yoga Teacher Trainer, receiving written evaluation and student feedback.

With this program, you will share in the profound experience of spiritual, physical and mental growth while being supported both by your teacher trainer and other teachers in training. The authentic experience of your personal transformation is held in highest regard by your professional team and you can depend on their availability as well as empathy, encouragement and guidance. We are here to serve you throughout your journey of self mastery.

Testimonials - a few words from our past trainees

"I feel so incredibly honoured to have trained with Denise-her teaching is powerful, beautiful and genuine and she offers it up with grace and humility ...I truly hope I am able to pass on these offerings to others through my classes"

"Denise’ s teaching is organic—it has grown out of what works—through years of observing what helps people learn, what helps people remember. I have been repeatedly amazed at how she creates the perfect learning environment—safe and soft, warm and humorous, lots of time for questions and going over things as many times as I need. She is infinitely patient, she is a wonderful story teller, she has a gift for laughter and spreading joy—and—she has an eagle eye for anything that isn’t quite right—so at the end of the training you will not only have had a delicious experience but you will have become a fine practitioner at the same time."

"Above all I love to be taught by someone who is truly passionate about what they do – Denise’s attention to detail, the depth of her knowledge, and her commitment to training her students to the highest standards make her an exceptional teacher."

"Denise is a brilliant teacher ... Patient and passionate in her approach she ensures that you are able to execute the sequences to high standards. The training is an enjoyable experience where you can learn a unique skill for life."

"As a conventionally trained Sports Massage Therapist, … attending your basic course added a fantastic new dimension to my work and a range of fabulous new techniques to use alongside my traditional techniques. It has made my job so much more interesting and varied and bought me an additional client base from the world of yoga!”

“Being able to attend the one-day taster course was a perfect way to sample the techniques and how they were taught before committing to the whole course. Modular format makes the courses accessible and new workshops and refresher days keep my knowledge up to date.”
